Started off our Morning visiting Barbra's Loft and Bikram Yoga Studio

Bikram Yoga

Bikram Yoga is a system of yoga. Bikram Yoga classes run for 90 minutes and consist of the same series of 26 postures, including two breathing exercises.  Bikram Yoga is ideally practiced in a room heated to (104 °F) with a humidity of 40%. All official Bikram classes are taught by Bikram certified teachers, who have completed nine weeks of training. Bikram certified teachers are taught a 

standardized dialogue to run the class, but are encouraged to develop their teaching skills the longer they teach.

Barbra, my niece, is a certified instructor of Bikram and is passionate about this method.  I did not get to see her in action, but, I understand that she has a devoted clientele.

Point Loma is a seaside community within the city of San Diego, California.   It is a hilly peninsula that is bordered on the west and south by the Pacific Ocean, the east by the San Diego Bay and Old Town, and the north by the San Diego River. Together with the Silver Strand / Coronado peninsula, the Point Loma peninsula defines San Diego Bay and separates it from the Pacific Ocean. The term "Point Loma" is used to describe both the neighborhood and the peninsula.

Coronado, California - Day 1

We left the Santa Barbara area this morning and headed for Coronado.  We were concerned about getting caught up in L. A. traffic......which is constant!  Yikes!

We were fortunate after an hour plus of heavy traffic to drive out of it and keep up with the pace.

We also were allowed to drive in the "carpool" lane because we had three passengers.  

And....we were glad that there were no accidents or road construction!

It has been 25 years since last we were in Coronado.  

I was surprised how emotional I became finally arriving in Coronado - 

.....being with Linda...she was emotional too.

It was good to finally arrive in Coronado.  

It was good to know we had made it this far in our trip.... (Mt. Shasta and Coronado were my goal). 

It was good to be out of the mountains and traffic.....and to have a chance to catch our breath!

The Emerald Shapery across the Bay.  In the evening their green lights turn on.

The Emerald Shapery Center is a mixed-use high-rise comprising office, hotel, retail and restaurant space. The 30-story office tower and 27-story hotel are connected by a 100-foot glass atrium.
The Emerald Shapery Center is recognized as one of the finest projects of its type in the country as is evidenced by the fact that it has been featured on the cover of 41 publications in addition to being recognized in the Sunday edition of the New York Times and USA Today.
The Center's sixteen-sided tower offers spectacular views of Mexico to the south, San Diego Harbor to the west, the California coastline to the north and downtown/Balboa Park to the east.

Mt. Shasta, California - Day 4

A beautiful day with sunshine and "perfect" temps.

We started the day and visited the Mt. Shasta's Community Garden

Headwaters of the Sacramento River

Reaching in to fill a water bottle with fresh water coming from the earth....nice and cold!

The Sacramento's source waters rise in the volcanic plateaus and ranges of far northern California as two streams – the Upper Sacramento and Pit. The main stem rises in the shadow of Mount Shasta and flows south through the Klamath Mountains.

Castle Lake

Castle Lake is a glacial lake (cirque lake or tarn) located in northernCalifornia along the eastern edge of the Klamath Mountains, in Siskiyou County, near the city of Mount Shasta. The outlet of the lake drains into Castle Lake Creek, and then into Lake Siskiyou; the lake is part of the headwaters of the Sacramento River.  (Refer to Wikipedia)

Celebrated our great nephew's 1st Birthday with Pizza and a Chocolate Cake made with beets.....

a healthy view of Red Velvet Cake, with fresh roadside picked black raspberries and homemade whipped cream.   Happy Birthday, Dear G.!

We leave first thing in the morning, traveling south toward San Diego.  My sister is traveling with us, so, that we can have that extra time together.

I / We are so grateful for this time in Mt. Shasta.  A nice little town with such a close proximity to trails, mountains, lakes, streams and rivers, biking, fishing, hiking, camping.......

Thank You to our family for an absolutely best time!!!
